Why Google Business Profile verification goes wrong

The most common verification problems

Video verification rejected

Google often asks for a short, continuous video. It usually wants to see your location or signage, proof you manage the business, such as tools, branded vans or equipment, and proof you can access business areas. A shaky clip of an office door is rarely enough. Plan the video before you press record.

Postcard never arrives

Irish addresses without a clear house number, or with the Eircode left out, can cause delays. Check your address is written exactly as An Post would expect, then request a new code only after the waiting period has passed. Requesting repeatedly can reset the process.

Verification rejected or suspended

If Google believes something does not add up, such as a virtual office, a keyword stuffed name or a mismatch between your profile and your website, it may reject verification outright. Fixing the underlying issue comes before trying again.

• Make sure your business name matches your signage and paperwork exactly
• Use a real address you operate from, not a mailbox or co-working desk you never use
• Hide your address if customers do not visit you, and set a service area instead
• Keep the same name, address and phone on your website
• Have branding visible on premises, vehicles or equipment for video checks

Verified is the start, not the finish

Getting verified puts you on the map. It does not put you anywhere near the top. Once you are live, you are competing with every established business in your category nearby, and Google only shows three of them in the Map Pack.
